Diagnosis Online

An undiagnosed mental health condition or illness can cause havoc in someone’s life, from having trouble concentrating at school or work and just not feeling like oneself to having difficulties connecting with others and more. The most distressing part is usually not knowing why this is happening.

This is why getting assessed and being given an official diagnosis online (finding the ‘why’) and learning how to manage it, alleviating symptoms, often brings great relief to the individual.

However, getting a diagnosis via the public mental health care system can take months of waiting on a waiting list. At Global Online Therapy, there are no waiting lists, and you can get an assessment whenever you need it.

A Few of the Diagnoses We Can Make Online

Our professionals can assess and assist you in diagnosing the following:

  • ADHD/ADD: ADD is the term that was predominantly used for what is now just referred to as ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). This is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects everything from one’s behavior and focus to how one regulates one’s emotions.

  • Autism: many have begun getting a better understanding of Autism with insightful programs such as Netflix’s Love on the Spectrum. As the name suggests, Autism has a spectrum, and depending on where one falls on the spectrum, the severity and presentation thereof will differ. Autism is a developmental condition that affects one’s communication, learning, behavior, and social interactions.

  • PTSD: PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) is a mental health condition that is caused by first- or second-hand trauma.

  • Depression: clinical depression should not be confused with a period of immense sadness or grief due to specific situations or events. Clinical Depression is a mental health condition during which there is a chronic sadness that lasts for longer than a couple of weeks, whether or not there really is something to feel sad about. It can have such a profound impact on an individual that they struggle to perform their daily functions.

  • Burnout: burnout is a state of complete physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion brought on by excessive and prolonged periods of stress. Most often, Burnout is associated with a very demanding job.

  • Anxiety disorder: anxiety disorder is a mental health condition that’s characterized by immense and constant fear, worry, and distress. This can be over the smallest and most mundane of things that form part of everyday life to big disasters, with the odds of it actually ever occurring being relatively minuscule. Anxiety disorder knows no bounds and can truly cripple an individual under its weight of worry.

  • Panic disorder: panic disorder is a subcategory of anxiety disorder. This is when the condition has begun manifesting itself physically in the form of panic attacks.

  • Personality disorder: personality disorder is a mental health condition where an individual’s behavior differs from that which is considered textbook normal or socially acceptable and will usually be apparent from the individual’s challenges to have long-term relationships or to function in society in general.

Diagnostic Options at Global Online Therapy

If you suspect that you may have an underlying condition and are interested in getting an official diagnosis, Global Online Therapy has two options for you to consider:

1.)  Screening as a Preliminary Diagnosis

Screening can be considered a preliminary diagnosis. You and your therapist will assess whether you show any of the symptoms of a specific condition, and based on what is discovered during your session(s), your therapist will make an initial diagnosis.

If you’re someone who just needs some clarity on why you do or feel the things you do, this is enough. However, if the condition is significantly impacting your life and requires a proper treatment and management plan, we highly recommend that you undergo a comprehensive diagnostic assessment.

2.) Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment

With a comprehensive diagnostic assessment, a thorough examination is conducted. This will include evaluation through discussions, as well as standardized tests and questionnaires. After the examination has been completed, you will receive a full report regarding any/all findings and whether a specific diagnosis could be made.

This is the best option for those who not only want clarity but a proper treatment and management plan to address the diagnosis. It can also assist when trying to work in a specific field, such as with children, or in a high-pressure position, such as a police officer.

Prices for an Online Diagnosis

We charge €500 for a screening. However, if you decide to undergo a comprehensive diagnostic assessment after your screening, the screening costs will be included in the total assessment and deducted from the overall cost of our complete diagnostic assessment for specific conditions. Therefore, pricing for comprehensive diagnostic assessments is as follows:

  • Complete assessment for: Autism, ADHD/ADD = €990 (or €490 if an initial screening was done)

  • Complete assessment for: Personality disorders = €800 (or €300 if an initial screening was done)

  • Complete assessment for: Other conditions such as burnout, depression, etc. = €600 (or €100 if an initial screening was done)

What Happens After a Diagnosis Has Been Made?

Nothing, if not explicitly requested by you. People receive diagnoses for various reasons, including gaining a better understanding of themselves, obtaining an official report as required by a potential or existing employer, or seeking assistance and relief from symptoms associated with a condition. Whether you choose to pursue a treatment or management plan or enter therapy will remain solely up to you.

    FAQs About Online Diagnostics

Yes, online diagnostics are just as effective as in-person diagnostics. Both use the same tools that don’t require a physical presence
That depends. If you’ve had a screening done where you received a preliminary diagnosis, you will not receive a formal report. But if you’ve had a complete diagnostic assessment done, you will receive a detailed and comprehensive report along with an official diagnosis (if any).
No one can force you into anything once you’ve received your diagnosis. Depending on your reasons for getting the diagnosis in the first place, you are welcome to continue with therapy and treatment or simply accept your report for whatever reason you wanted it.
